Yes that correct, the main difference is where the gearstick is located and the number of splines, there isn't that much difference in the casing size.

You wont regret putting a toyota 5-speed behind the E15T Matt, nice and strong and reliable, you won't break it in a hurry.

I am under the inpression that the key differenct between the 2t and the 3t versions of the T50 box is the number of output splines. The 3t had 23 where as the 2t had 22 splines.
2t and 3t refer to the engines that they were bolted to.

Basically the boxes are identical, but the toyo boys will say that the 3t is tougher internally.

Over the course of the 2t/3t gearboxes, there were three different lengths to accomdate differernt cars. The earlist ones were the short one, with the longest ones the last. The only bit that changes the box length is the shift housing which unbolts off the back. Each different lengh model just has a slightly longer housing with longer internal linkages. Thats it. The gears are all the same.

Yep the 3T fits with a bit of massaging. I had to cut/grind the old standard gearbox mounts out, the toyota box doesn't fit in between them, I had to cut out a sliver out of the tunnel for the clutch fork and the clutch cable, i re-welded a peice over it to cover it up. As Jordy said the shifter hole has to be cut about 50-60mm further back to accomodate the gear stick.Custom gearbox mount has too be fabricated of course, i just attached it to the floor by drilling through the floor and having a plate that is attached to the gearbox and a sandwich plate on the inside bolted both of them together.
Custom tailshaft has to be made up of course, i had to get one made to suit the ute diff(H165)i put in my 1K.

Filling the gearbox with oil is a pain in the a$$ due to the fact of the lack of space, i had to make an apparatus out of a funnel and some hose, so i can run the hose from the engine bay to fill the gearbox up.
It's well worth the effort.

Are you thinking about this for the E15T?

id say you'd have the longer version
is the shifter right at the end of the box or further up?
[edit]
is it like this box?
its the longer version

perthute
it all depends on which t50 you get there are three different sizes
small medium and long version
pretty sure the shortest one is out of the ta22 celicas and the longer versions are from other models except im not to sure what they are!
[edit]
i think the long versions are from the 4age powered toyo's these are the 3t ones..
whilst the 2t are the celica ones
