Hey mate the tank at the widest point is near 105cm wide and as it goes forward (towards front of car) it narrows to near 75 cm wide. Then its near to 65cm long (back of car to front). Info is a R31 wagon tank and is from mounting lip which runs right around the tank. Hope that helps can measure me R31 pintara sedan tank tomorrow if ya like its at me misses place.

yup i'm fine about doing that, I can't use the 1200 sedan tank anymore because my car is so low and has a BW in it I had to put a diff hump in the floor so need to put a tank where the spare wheel well is now.
Just want a couple of dimensions to double check before I go purchasing a tank.
How come the wagon tanks are too wide in a sedan but guys can get away with using them in utes?
Are the sedan ones nice and square like the wagon tanks or are they a funny shape to clear the spare wheel?

wagon tanks are too wide to fit im pretty sure, as they are wider than sedan ones. due to the wagon having the spare in the floor above the tank, so the tank isnt as high in the wagon as the sedan

to use an r31 sedan tank in a 1200 sedan you need to cut the spare wheel well out and then the tank sits slightly up into the boot

really, whats the difference between the sedan and wagon ones?
I just thought the wagon one was the one to use as the that seems to be what the ute boys use. I have no knowledge of R31's so only info I have is from the few pictures that i've seen of the setups in utes.
Thanks for measuring by the way

Will measure it today mate i totally forgot and got a new job so life's a bit busier now. Just writing it on my hand now back this arvo. Reckon you would be better off with a sedan tank if any but.

Hey guys just wanted to drag this up again. I've found a R31 wagon at a wreckers here but its in the car and they won't let me head out into the yard to measure it (some bullsh1t health and safety thing)
So I was wondering if someone who has a wagon tank could please measure the size (width x length x height) for me, it would be much appreciated!

Read somewhere on here about this swap. Am I right in thinking the spare in the R31 is on the side somewhere, so no wheel well?
Slightly off topic, is there a way of retro fitting a surge tank into an existing tank?
