i work in darlington park race track, is not a housing development, it has been turned into an industrial park housing around 60 businesses. the track is mostly still there, just has a few speed bumps. wsas quite fun to drive on before the bumps were put in though ;) would have made a great track and a fair bit of money, but from what i heard they only had a few testing days for v8 supercars and then was shut down... not even the go-kart track is still running unfortunately.

Really?? thats no good,

Same thing happened down here with the Tomago speedway, it was a still very popular saturday night institution for over 50 years, but the thing is the price of the land that it was built on was worth more to the owner than the business itself. Its sad when it comes down to this!

It would be brilliant to see a motorsport complex set up somewhere west of the coast.

Darlington Park is no longer. They where getting heaps of grief from some of the locals and to make matters worse the old man(circuit owner)refused to go along with CAMS re his track license, and as a result could'nt get any legal type assistance from the cams beaks(very stubborn and short sighted)then quite recently the old bloke went and died(selfish of him i reckon)and as a result the assets including the track went to his son,who apparently is about as interested in Motor Sport as i am of Butterfly collecting.
So now the whole estate is being transformed into a housing development...go the big bucks!
Maybee he'll get lucky and get taken out on the M1 one day with all his millions, and the Gold coast council are laughing with all the headworks charges and building permits.

SAD SAD

What ever happened to darlington park? (i think thats the name of it, it's located near Yatala pies, just up the road), is it still operating?

When i was living in QLD the last thing i heard about it was that it was in jepordy because the near by residents were complaining about the noise from the events that were held there, which is not a good thing. Never heard anything else since.

I'll throw my support behind you guys! the way i see it it helps everyone in the long run.

Here in RSA The problem isnt that we havnt got a race track here it is just so expensive! to take part in these events. You would think they make there money from the loads and loads of people coming to spectate but no they even trying to milk the racers. I mean if we dont pitch to race who are the people coming to see. I still hope you get your track cheers

we in adelaide are having problems like this atm as well ... we have a private group looking to build a motorsport complex out near port adelaide but have recently been told to stick it because the pollies think it will create more "hoons" as apposed to reducing the problem. we feel you pain as we have no drag racing in adelaide at all and havent for some years now
