That's the FU engine, it is the best. 47 MPG.

GX is a trim level, not directly tied to the engine model. In the Datsun 1200 engine and GX trim were tied together, but not with the newer models. More flash, less sizzle.

So it was my mistake

it was a 310GX and not a B310GX...

I was under the impression that GX was the highest trim model with the most performance motor but this A14 has a 65hp output... ouch

I think I'll leave that one where it is.

I will get some pics this week when I go down there again, I might grab the dizzy for some electronic ignition.

but I know for sure that it is FWD, I will look at the badge again to see if I am mistaken with the B310GX/310GX thing.

Thanks guys

Front-wheel drive is 310, which is on the exterior badges.

Rear-wheel drive is B310, which is on the engine compartment ID plate.

Got pics?

The A14T is Twin carb engine. Totally unrelated to "GX", except that some people call any twin-carb engine a "GX". In the case of 310 or B310 "GX" is a trim level (Grand Luxury) and didn't indicate the type of engine.

I had one back in the day, it was nothing but a heartache. Which surprized me, I had been so happy with every other Datsun I had owned.

EDIT: Its not the A14T... I dont know what I was thinking there.
I should go see if it is an A14 or A15

Hey all,

I was wondering around a local pick-a-part here in lethbridge yesterday when I came across an old Datsun.

The badge on the back was B310GX... it was FWD with an A14 in it.
I searched through the forums, tech wiki etc but then found a pretty close answer on Wikipedia.

It seems that it is the first model of N10 (Pulsar) which was also 310 here in North America, The 1978-1980 models were the only ones with an A series in it and later got the E series.

The one thing that I am confused about is that the vehicle at the pick-a-part had a "B310GX" badge on it, I was under the impression that it was marketed as a "310"

Also being that it is a GX model i researched that too just to find out what A14 it had in it... wikipedia also let me know that it is a 92hp version and that it is an A14T (twin carb model)

Quote:
A twin-carburetor "GX" version of this engine (A14T) was available in some markets.

Does anyone know anything about these "B310GX" models...

Also are they worth putting a RWD gearbox on it and slapping in the 1200... I can get the engine for $150.

Experts, let me know.

SLAM
