While not my cup of tea I have nothing but respect for someone completing such a comprehensive rebuild. The attention to detail that must be required to finish such a project is admirable. When I was 21 all I was interesting in doing was meeting girls, drinking and driving fast.
As for if it's the best 1600 in the world. That's a huge and subjective call.

The white one Pepper is talking about has the sss
rear garnish panel and addition this orange one could
really do with as well to compliment the grille effort
at the front.
Give me an sr20 over an l series no problems
but L series with Ka24de head even better.
I like both standard and modded cars mainly modded
however balance and longevity is priority.

haha i was just throwing it out there. doing up a car to original standards has its positives, you dont have to worry about colour combos etc, i thought a lot of what he's done works well. all that gear in the boot has its purposes, obviously there's nothing in the engine bay so it had to go somewhere!

i hate standard datto's... unless its modified i couldnt care less.. great u have a clean datto...wow! how original lol

at the end of the day, i give this guy alot of credit, atleast he isnt out stealing big screen tv's to support a crack habbit!

Street machine mag has had about 20 great builds in 10 years.
The rest fall in the same overdone try to hard to be modern catg.
A car designed with chrome rarely pulls it off without it before
it grows old quickly.

The dogs breakfast in the boot is very sad and there are alot of
areas where this is definitely not the best 510 in the world.

opinon yes i respect that...but the engineering that went into this you must admire the attention to detail i give top makes, yes step out side the box, these things you do to get into street machines mag....

I see teenies (not all) happy with a yellow painted dash and
windscreen wipers pat each other on the back. No where near
that bad here there is plenty to admire just a few things spoil it.
Its not a matter of complete purism in this case its just that for some,
this car is slightly tacky and it has quickly dated to the point
where a 2 door 90s sylvia would a better candidate.
No jealously just some have a passion for industrial design,
engineering and finished art that separates the wanabees for the happy to be.
I used to almost chuck at seeing some of these American hotrod
shows modernizing cars that were once beautifully balanced.

Attention to detail is great but
the black modern windscreens/windows,
lack of chrome on the sides
shaved rear doors
boot full of confused items and lines
seats for Gary Glitters abused buttocks
overdone orange running gear(underneath)

yet great top notch clean engine bay just
missing datsun on rocker cover or something
more personal to the artist/owner.

an example of a normal 510 coupe that eats an overmodded one

and clearly fitzy didn't, good on him for not going fr simmons, original paint and working the stock motor. for a 21 year old i reckon its top dollar, spesh the engine bay. hell i'm only 21 and i couldn't imagine having such a car at that age. good on him for thinking outside the box, althought yeah i wouldn't have bothered shaving the rear door handles. haha
