Late ute tachometers are wired differently than early Datsun 1200 tachometers.

Early: 4-wire
One wire for induction signal (two wires in the harness) + Lamp & earth (ground)

Late: 3-wire
Lamp + Tach signal & Ground/earth

It works the same whether you have Datsun electronic ignition or not.
