You don't have the standard brake setup. All 1979 Datsun 1200 utes came standard with front drums.

The ones you've got are fine for a Datsun 1200. Use a C-clamp, or otherwise compress them. It takes about 5 minutes of constant pressure, or if you crack the brake bleeder at the caliper only a few seconds.

Yes, the B110 and B210 (japan-made) disc brake calipers have a twin piston caliper. You have to compress the inner pistons (more than you'd think, since they are doubled) to fit the outer pad.

If you have disk brakes from another model, you may have to free up caliper sliding surfaces to fit the outer pad.

Datsun pads are really thick, but they'll fit.

Yeah I've done that DD but it's the outer pad I'm having problem with.

The piston side fits fine.

Yep, had that problem many times. Use a large C-clamp and compress the pistons.

I've got a late model ute with a disc front end. Wasn't a problem getting matching replacement pads (QLD Friction materials P/L DB 39) but these have too much meat on them and I'm having problems even fitting them. They're too thick! (14mm) I can fit the inner pads (the one closest to the piston) but the outer 'static' side of the caliper has no chance. It's out by about 3mm at least.

Has anyone else come across this problem? Besides grinding/sanding the outer pad does anyone have any tips?
