Always go back to basics.

Is the radiator serviceable? No? Then replace it with one that is, or get the faulty unit fixed by a competent radiator repair shop.
My personal preference is to go for a heavy duty core & triple row if possible.

But that costs money I hear so many cry.
Well so does a cooked engine, & the radiator still needs to be fixed once the engine is repaired/replaced.

I put a new core in my 1200 coupe several years back & with the aid of a coolant filter [cheesecloth condom type] the radiator has remained clean & the temp has remained in the zone despite a recent 'devastating' heatwave in Victoria & a faulty thermostat.
Yes, I drove all day through central Victoria & into NSW on the Monday of record temperatures. Never missed a beat.

The original 1200 radiator, particularly with a heavy duty core, is a surprisingly efficient unit.

is there a radiator that will replace the standard item?

Yes, the radiator from another 1200. Or better yet, the radiator from an A14-powered B310.

If you must fit a non-Nissan item, there are hundreds of radiators small enough to fit into a 1200.

See datsun1200 Tech: radiator

Yes, the stock Datsun 1200 radiator, if in good condition, is good enough for A14.

Is your radiator having good fins?
