Thanks for all the comments ....
I thought the cause was a failed uni joint ...... but on further investigation it was most likely failure due to the tailshaft running at its 'critical speed' with the resulting carnage. We do have to run a tailshaft loop and mine looks VERY second hand!!! The fuel lines, rear brake line were VERY close to severed, and the tunnel has a few tears and lots of dents!!
Tailshaft broke into pieces, 100mm of gearbox extension housing snapped off, but not fire or rollover - so not so bad after all!!
Almost ready for the new season .......

Do they require a driveshaft safety loop? Looked like it was spit clear across the other side of the track.

Would have been a litle scary on that part of the track. Did you find out the cause? Did it give you warning?
Very disapointing all the same, an expensive two laps.
