yeah dude i've done it. depending on how much you pick up a motor for is where the money starts, and what condition the motor is in.

i picked up my motor for $450 from a local wrecker mate of mine. it had no manifolds but that didnt matter coz i had twin GX SU's and a GX exhaust manifold to go onto it anyway.

lets say you pick up a good condition motor, complete with manifolds for $500, depending on what car it is from, vanette or sunny (mine was in a 1200 ute previous to me owning it so it was
ready to bolt in), pull your motor out and sit it on the ground next to the A15. basically, pull anything off your motor that looks different to whats on the A15 and transplant it across.
eg, engine mounts. depending on what year model yours is, you might have the early A12 or the late A12. the late A12 will look exactly the same as the A15, dizzy halfway down the block, and
oil pump at the front.

after swapping engine mounts over, its basically lift and drop it into the engine bay. connect everything back up the same and your driving.

it took me a whole day from 7:30 in the morning til 5 in the arvo to get it from running at 7:30 that morning to running at 5 that night with no troubles. by myself. the easiest way to do it
is to pull the gearbox out with the motor and put it back in the same way.

later down the track you'll probably have to get a bigger radiator t oovercome the very slight increase in temp. fro mthe A12 to the A15.

other than that, piece a piss.

i might be selling my A15 if my ute gets written off. so wait 2 weeks and i'll get back to ya's.

cheers

Justin
