The H145 differential [B10 & b110] shares the same mounting gasket as the later H150 [B210 & B310] but the centerline of the axles was moved 2,5mm further back from the gasket face in the H150.

You can fit the H150 into the H145 axle housing & correct alignment is obtained with a 2mm spacer & a second gasket, however the H145 diff in a H150 housing means that the axle centerline is now 2.5mm closer to the front of the car.

Apart from machining a total of 2.5mm from either the diff carrier, the axle housing or a part of this number from both, there is nothing that can be done to correct this problem.

The 1200 Wagon simply used the 4.11 to 1 differential from the B10 range when that ratio was selected as an option.

Additionally, the alloy differential used a different method of adjusting the pinion bearing pre-load than did the iron H145. Individual internal components are not readily interchangeable, however the Alloy & Iron carriers appear to be interchangeable.

As for the rarity of the alloy H145 diffs, .... well every B10 & B20 vehicle produced had one fitted with passenger models [B10 & KB10] using the 4.11 to 1 ratio with commercial models [VB10 & B20] using the 4.375 ratio [4.625 was optional]

I put one in my 1200 sedan cause it was lighter and a good ratio, I know they are weaker but I'll just see how it goes.

Well StevieG quotes "Yeah i got an Aluminium diff centre in my 1200 coupe." Thats why i asked. So possibly he transferred one from the 1200 wagon?

And yes dd, i have a few alluminium centres and they fit in my sunny diff housing with no modification, only a different tailshaft is used.
I am after an alluminium diff centre, with either the ratio of 4.375 or 4.11. cheers.

Sure you had them in there before. The only alloy ones exist are from Datsun 1000 or 1200 wagon.

1200 coupes were never factory fitted with alloy diffs.

Nah, the 1000 center won't live in a Sunny unless it's an A12 sunny. They are small and rated for less torque.

hey dattoman_1000, im just wondering how much your chasing for your centre when you pull it out, and if you by any chance know the Ratio? They're usually either 4.11 or 4.375.
Just making sure but the centres from either a 100 ute/sedan/wagon will bolt sraight into a sunny housing wont it?
Cheers if you could help it'd be greatly apreciated

If you have any HP you can stretch them and they get damn noisy
I'm taking one out soon to fit a cast centre into my 1000 wagon
I'm sick of the noise

I destroyed a few in my racecar a few years ago
There really is no advantage to them in my view

.......

They're difficult to obtain, as they came off the 1000's [sedans, coupes]. The centre isn't aluminium, it's the housing [that the centre sits in] which is aluminium EDIT: or alloy I should say.

I suppose the racers like them because they are lighter, but apart from that there isn't anything that special about them.

What are they worth... 100 $quid$ maybe?
