Yeah I'm going to borrow my dads grinder on the weekend. Going to go down and get my pink slip on Saturday morning first though cause my rego is due in a few weeks anyway.

Time for some bush mechanics!!!

I've been told just to cut off a coil at a time till you get it down to close to the desired height then go a quarter of a coil till you get it just right.

You can reset the height of the shock bt taking off the large nut at the top of your strut and make up a spacer out of some sort of piping, put the spacer in the shock tower and do the nut back up. This way the shock dosent come up so heigh and can go lower it will be legal and safe....

I saw a guy that cut them and used hose clamps to secure it. Actually seemed like a pretty good idea. I may cut mine in the next few days

yeah im in the same situation at the moment, asked everywhere and 1" is as low as they go.
just gunna bite the bullet and cut the original springs and zip-tie them, when rego comes, just cut the zip-tie off and hey presto looks standard!
any ideas as to how many coils to cut off the standard springs to lower bout 2-3" ??

HMMM seems like a good idea. I guess the other issue with cutting them and zip tying as your suggesting is getting it registered. Doubt the zip tied springs would be allowed through.

Might just buy a set of new standard springs and keep them seperate to put them in when rego comes round i suppose....

Well i thought about the spring perch thing but it's kind of just like cutting them. The spring when the strut is at full travel would become unseated, and cutting them is easier. Also i am no welder.....

I am trying to avoid having to cut them. For the next 6 months the car is going to be my daily driver and i don't want to be driving on the crappy sydney roads and have my spring dislodge when i hit a pothole or something and have all sorts of issues. Needs to be realiable ya know.

But i think maybe i will be forced to cut them by the sounds of things. Just have to risk it i guess : S

Cheers
