$1000 for all that work would be a good deal. In NZ it would be a fair bit more than that.

What a cylinder head costs to modify is usually driven by, What you expect to get out of it. Heads destined for street duty theoretically dont require a massive amount of $$$ investment to get good to great results. Race heads on the other hand can get very costly due to the materials used and time taken to port /machine /measure and shape.
I would not expect to see much change from ~$1000 AU on a hot A-series head. [porting, valves, valve seats, guides/k-liners, springs, spring retainers/seats, cc'd, face skim, pressure test, bench flow, reshape the combustion chamber etc]

I have used heads from two performance heads porting specialist. JTS and Datrats.

The JTS heads gave good results, but has since been reworked to extract every last bit of HP potential. [JTS is sydney based]

Feral Errol {Datrats] Used Cavehill Engines to do my last head. I am so impressed with the fininsh. It is like a piece of jewelery. This engine workshop does quite a few heads and engines for the IPRA guys in NSW and VIC [that I know of]. If I was to invest substantial $$$'s on a head, this is where I would send it. Cavehill is VIC based

I here good things about Ernie and his ATE business. I cant comment directly as I have not used his services as yet. As far as I can gather, the people who have are most satisfied with the results. Ernie is Sydney based.

cheers

So what would be a rough price for some port work and oversize valves (Have double valve springs already)?
