But its the company that employs this person Gav, so ultimately it reflects badly on them... though the franchise factor seems to diminish responsibility in this situation.
I have a very low tolerance for bad customer service when my work often involves putting my and others lives and reputations on the line, by comparison putting on a smile and doing what you are paid to do doesn't seem like such a risk :/
That said, full props to David here for taking the time and effort, its definitely going beyond the call.

I have dealt with rares spares in Sydney (Parramatta Rd). Over the phone they told me certain things couldn't be done which obviously could be. When I went in there, it was a different story and they were extremly helpful. In the end I was happy with what they achived but it did come at a price. At the end of the day when they were the only people who could come up with a quality rear screen rubber for my kb10 I didn't mind paying.

I would also like to add that I have had the same issue's with a wheel company. Even though it's bull$hit, it's probaly a bit unfair to blame the company rather than the bloke who hates his job that answers the phone.

I've had good dealings with the Adelaide Rare Spares.

Your message won't reach this guy he logs in once every 6 months or so, perhaps send him a message.

Hi Bert, we own the stores located at Roxburgh Park and Bayswater in Victoria.
All of the other stores are independently owned franchises.
As I said earlier I am more than happy to try and sort out any issues any-one has with us on the understanding I may not be able to have too much influence where the store is not company owned, but I am prepared to try. My number is 03 9305 4000.

David, perhaps you could post a list of "company" owned stores around Australia,as i too have had service issues in the past.
Strangely enough Restorers hotline have been far more helpfull in the past and hence where my $$ where spent.
Cheers

Thank you dattoman_1000 for transfering my post from the Torana forum.
At least we have now had the opportunity to put forward the other side of the story and as you can see, while there was obviously a problem, it was not of our making nor did we have any involvement.
As always any-one who has a beef with Rare Spares is welcome to give me a call on 03 9305 4000 and while I can't guarrantee I can rectify the problem, especially if it relates to a non company owned store, I will certainly give it a try for you.
Thanks again for being fair minded enough to allow us to have our say.
You can't ask for more than that.
Regards

Well the brisbane branch still hold the title of unhelpful since I don't own a Holden or a Ford. Isn't this more a case of a select few ruining the reputation of the lot?

Just FYI
A response about the same thread on Torana forums from Rares

Firstly, by way of clarification I would like to make you aware the store in question is not a company owned store but an independently owned, franchised outlet and, as such we have no control over their actions regarding matters outside of the franchise agreement, such as in this case the manner in which they treat expired vouchers etc.
Secondly I would like to make it crystal clear the voucher in question was not a Rare Spares voucher but one issued by Restorers Hotline, a company totally unrelated to Rare Spares but also under the ownership of the proprietors of Rare Spares (Adelaide). It seems to me to be a bit unreasonable to be the subject of a post regarding a matter that in fact we had no involvement in.
Thirdly, after talking with Andrew at Restorers Hotline it appears the voucher was more than a "few months" out of date, I am told it actually expired at the end of December 2009 which to my reckoning is some 6 months ago.
While I don't intend at this stage to enter into a debate as to whether time expired vouchers should be honoured or not , clearly this one was well out of date.
That said, if the author of the original post would like to contact Andrew he would be prepared to try and work out an amicable solution to the matter.
Andrew had, prior to this blow up and subsequent posts, second thought his decision and had unsuccessfully tried to contact original poster as not with standing all Rare Spare (Adelaide) / Restores Hotline invoices bearing the customer's name he was unable to find any details of the customer in question.
I hope I have not over stepped the rules of the forum, that the situation has been clarified and that with the co-operation of both parties the issue can be suitably resolved.
In closing I would also like to re-iterate Rare Spare's policy at our company owned stores is, and always has been, that all Rare Spares vouchers will be honoured no matter how old.
Regards
David Ryan
