Mmmmmm this is not the sort of thing you want to do if money is an obstacle and your the sort who "wants it now".

You gotta do it purely for your own enjoyment of the whole conversion process, not just the dream of a shiny fully sick boost mobile.

For me this Datto thing started out pretty tame.

Now its all I think about... its my whole weekend, every weekend, its my lunch times at work (and more) and my g/f hates anything Datto related....

So be prepared.

Its totally rewarding but a load of work and it totally ruins your life, all u can talk about is Dattos and everyone thinks ur a weird crazy obsessed freako...

And you are ;)

Datsuns are the truth...
Can you handle the truth?

the CA fits in better and is registerable with a turbo, the SR is not, but you wont do #OOPS# your all talk, another 13 year old yabbering about stuff they will never do, i bet you dont even have a ute.

Ok, all the best, start a project build and let's see how rust free this 1200 is and how cheaply you can do this conversion mate we are just pointing you in the right direction, if you don't wanna waste alot of money to get no where don't start the project. Sr's are not really Engineerable. Check maddat.com.au and then you will get a rough idea of some prices for things

im in the process of doing my CA18 conversion into a 1200 sedan, ALL of the labour is being carried out by myself (apart from the odd alloy weld) ca18det, t28 turbo, microtech, fitting kit, r31 diff/ Tailshaft, brakes, panel/paint.. all custom stainless 3" exhaust and cooler piping (done myself).. with the help off my grandparents (grandfather being a spray painter and grandmother bein an auto trimmer) ill get out of it registered for around the $7-8000 mark.. thats sourcing parts cheap and doin 99% of the work myself

I know its not a SR conversion but they require the same work

or atleast you hope thats whats involved in a paint job, sometimes the welding part just happens to get missed out on
EDIT: yeah what he said

but then if there are no obvious signs of it having rust its not like you are going to strip back a fresh paint job to see what kinda job was done to it

not always so....to many people these days using fibreglass, or flywire to make bog stick....the best way to tell is with a fridge magnet if it sticks the whole way around the car then you will be all good if not in a few years you will see the rust comin through
