Yeah the Borg Warner is better than a "Phantom Grip" but I personally don't call them a limited slip but they are better than nothing, but compared to a proper Nismo,Kaaz etc no comparison.

ALL nissan r31 silhouette and gts1 & gts2 (australian models SVD) had borgwarner live axle lsd's from the factory.
series 1&2 silo's (manuals) and gts1's (all were manual) had 3.7:1 all series 3 silo's, all autos and all gts2's were 3.9:1.as they were sold new in Australia.

many of the cars had diff problems (noise) under warranty and they were replaced with the later 3.9:1 units.

the other models could also be optioned with an lsd when purchased new.

jap import r31's have IRS with a long nose r200.

I hope this info is helpful.

Good to know Fiasss
Do you have any information on the cost of optioning an LSD on a lesser model?
Cheers Matty

if it's 25 spline - xe/f era fairmont ghia (I think is the name) and early EA ghias (definitely) had 25 spline lsd.. You can get new lsd friction cones from ebay cheap enough.

Be aware though that if it is a 2.77:1 ratio lsd, then the carrier is different, the crownwheel attachment point is shifted sideways (vs all other bw78 carriers for the other ratios) because hte pinion is bigger and needs more room.

You can run those carriers with different gears, you just need to make a sandwich plate about 2-3mm thick to space the crownwheel back closer to the pinion so that the available range of thickness of carrier bearing shims can be used to get teh backlash right.

correct

a vk lsd or non-turbo vl lsd should fit a pintara 25sp diff
a turbo/v8 lsd from a vl/vk should fit a skyline 28sp diff
later commodore live axle lsd (vn-vs non irs) should fit a skyline 28sp diff

please check out specific examples for yourself but in general this is true

i'm using a vl turbo lsd in my r31 diff

Its a BW78 ... the LSD out of Commodore and Falcon fit (if you have the correct axle splines)

Hi mate
I've got a complete disc to disc R31 diff and an LSD centre I would be prepared to sell.

The LSD needs a rebuild.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

Regards Matty

Not all silhouettes; just the GTS had the LSD like wardy said. And there was only 200 of the older shape and 200 of the newer shape. That's why they are so dear. I'm pretty sure there wasn't any other Australian issued SVD (Special Vehicle Division) Skyline's. Not sure which of the import skylines had LSD though. They wouldn't be common either.
