Re the other box as linked on Ebay,Hey sunny boy that is a genuine option 2 gearbox and would be a requirement in some historic race classes so it is well worth the money he is asking,so he does have some idea what it is actually worth and it is actually cheap for such a rare item these days especially fully rebuilt.
Maybe some more life experience will enlighten you as to value and how to judge it.
