Numbers are around here, this is a pic for an A12 but they're around that area. That's the back of the block to the left.....just letting you know. So looking front on toward the rear of the car the numbers are on the left toward the back of the block.

Dude don't pay that much, that's too much. Way too much for a non runner/unconfirmed. $250.00 absolute max I say.

thanks, where abouts is A14 stamped on the block? its advatised at $500 and i thought that was a bit much for a stocker that cant be proved to run. also im pretty sure theres no gearbox

I paid $250 for a good running, but out of car a15.
The guy gave me the same story.
It turned over, had a15 on the block. everything was intact.

check if it turns, check the oil color, take the rocker cover off and check if anything in the valve train is broken,
see what gearbox it is connected to if its a 5 speed youve struck gold
check if its got oval head intake
