looked at that other 2 door on ebay today and the badge is broken! car is not bad fair bit of work needs to be done, motor needs to be mounted, the wheel well has been cut out, has copped a hit to the front drivers side (nothin major) and not sure 100% of the parts are there to put back together so 50/50 on whether to buy it

would be a fun car if the motor is ported, my 1200 would barely keep traction let alone a 1000

Rare as hens teeth them gearboxes. Maybe ask him for the old gearbox Leith, he'd probably part with it for $50.00.

He's in Toowoomba too. I haven't been back there since I finished high school there.

Nah he did a good job, just wished he'd used a later model. Looking at the column shift and the trans tunnel (or in that reverse order) this was originally a 3 speed column shift manual.
