I only slotted the holes half the diameter of the original hole, so it dropped like 5 mm, & L series usually use some big arse flat washers which hides the slotting. With the grill off & the radiator not in place, I could put my hand between the rocker cover & the brace on the inside of the bonnet. As I've got big arse hands, I reckoned this was enough clearance(put a smiley face here to show I'm being silly). I know that when I had somebody put an SR20 into a Sunny for me years ago he used different rubbers to the standard sr20 ones, I think they were cortina. This was in 1995, long before Maddat or whoever had a kit to suit.

Gees I just noticed we've just about taken over Anthony's Add. Sorry bout that Anthony.

I dont think anyone would pick that up on the holes and
the lower engine mounts are possible in PU material.

Bearing in mind that slotted holes on mounts are not legal, certainly not in QLD anyway.

The simplest way to get away from cutting the brace on the bonnet is to modify the engine brackets by slotting the holes that bolt to the block. This makes the engine sit lower. The Sunny coupe I've got with the L18 has enough room still to fit an L20B. What I did was drill holes above the existing holes, then join the 2 holes with a round file. As I used a smaller drill I didn't lower it too much, but theres still clearance on the sump. I also found some thin engine mount rubbers but they could have been Stanza, which you might have already. The 6 cylinder cars seem to have urethane engine mounts, too. Wish I hadn't bought the Sunny coupe I got in early November, because I'd love to take this off your hands. Only thing I'd do was some 14 inch steel wheels off a C22 van with trim rings & centre caps, & a bigger exhaust. I reckon getting this car engineer in NSW would be easy, particularly if you lowered the engine that little bit & could put that piece back in the bonnet.

If the bonnet wasnt cut it could be passed as a stanza
upgrade as long as the brakes came from the stanza and
the bonnet bracing wasnt cut. Youd need a mechanic to
concur you upgraded the brakes and met the stanza model
factory L series details.
That was in Victoria where some models with diff engines
and brakes can be upgraded without engineers certificate
as long as the brakes and if any other needs are met.
eg. 6 cyl to v8 engined cars even 4 cyl to 6 cyl
eg, toranas, escorts, falcons and cortinas etc.
