I thought of getting a mini-pushbutton switch with a 1/4 barrel which would easily fit via tap down through the 14mm shaft. Problem was the button part was plastic...might have found one of similar dimensions but with a metal button... I guess it depends on what pressures said button can withstand...(a broken button inside the gearbox mightn't go down too well)...but with this method it would stick out no further than the nut itself.

Here's how some guys have done it: To fit a 60-Series Transmission 5-speed, move the mounts 115mm back in the Tunnel:

1/4" NTP means the minimum inside diameter of the fitting is 1/4" or about 6mm
the actual threaded hole for the rev switch is about 14mm

The hole is much larger than 1/4 inch. It looks like 1/2 inch pipe threads?

When I bought the "bung" to plug the disused rev switch hole, I was told the thread was 1/4" NTP.

tunnel is my issue, not the xmember mounts, as they are moved when the L series 63a dogleg wehn in.
my issue is the switch is too close to the tunnel and shorts out if connected up against the metal.
need a shorter one, luckily its the same one as the a series switch
