as for stopping the oil moving back on hard acceloration i would have thought something like what L20b sumps have would be good. just a flat plate on a 45 degree angle coming out from sbout where the rear mounts are in the sump pictured above
think they just have gaps on the side to let oil back down

also interesting that the earlier A series sumps dont have that baffle in the main reservoir like that later ones. atleast im pretty sure the early ones didnt

it would certainly help over having nothing, but not sure if it would help with the windage much.

I would have thought that you would need vertical dividers, like what you get in water/fuel/milk/liquid tankers with small access ports down the bottom to allow the liquid to flow between the sections.

Crank scrapers, which are usually mounted between the the sump and the block need to be profiled to fit the crank so that the oil that is dispersed in the air is restrcited into the top half, with what is below the scrapers hopfully pushed back down into the oil resiviour.

The silver plate (top photo) is the windage part. It keeps oil from splashing back up into the crank & rods where "windage" occurs from the rotating parts.

But mostly it looks good to keep (most of) the oil down in the sump during brief acceleration including cornering.

That's the type I have. I have heard some people refer to it as a windage tray?

If I'm looking at them correctly, I'd say it is effective to help under straight line acceleration mostly, and to a slightly lesser extent laterally. Sometimes you get lucky with engines and the main 'reservoir' of the sump is toward the rear which is (imo) half the battle) and other times, well you just have to make the best of what you are given...

fwiw, I like it, it would be affordable/easy enough for most of us to do at home.
