G'day, My son has purchased a 1971 Datsun 1200. I would like to replace the front drum brakes on it with discs to improve the braking and hopefully make it a bit safer for every day use. My reasearch over the net indicates that the front disc/strut set up off the early Datsun 120Y with fit into the Datsun 1200 without any major work being reqired. I have managed to track down a 1974 120Y in a local wrecker which seems to have all the parts we need. I assume that a 1974 model 120Y is early enough. I dont want to go to the trouble of taking the brakes and strutts off and paying for them and then taking them home and finding they dont fit on the Datsun 1200. Also I assume I need to take the brake booster and knuckle off the 120Y also and fit it onto the 1200? I would appreciate anyones feedback regarding the brakes.
