チェリー (cherry) was Nissan's first FF (Front-drive, Front Engine) model line. Like the Sunny, it is also a B-class (subcompact) car. It was sold in Japan in new "Cherry Shop" dealerships as Nissan Cherry, while Datsun Sunny was sold in separate dealerships.

* 1970-1974 E10 Nissan Cherry/Datsun Cherry/Cherry FF/100A,120A
* 1974-1978 F10 Nissan Cherry/Datsun Cherry/F10/100A F-II,120A F-II

Development was done by Prince engineers but brought to market by Nissan. Work on the Cherry was done in the Prince Ogikubo office (Fuji's original Nakajima Aircraft manufacturing and development base). Ogikubo also developed the Skylines (pre-R30), Laurels (pre-C31), F30 Leopard and M10 Prairie.

so was the E10 front or rear wheel drive? The F10 was front & I also remember not being able to see out the back window as it was almost flat, less incline then a 1200 coupe.

E10 was interesting
F10 was perhaps ugly

But the twin-carburetor A12 made up for it!

And the most interesting of all, E10 Kuupe:

Dont worry to much about us wombats either EDP most of us are friendly. Some of the wild ones are the ones to watch put for.

Sorry, Fugly isn't necessarily a negative, maybe its more a frame of mind

I did just realize I owned one of the fugly things too, a bright yellow 76 or 77 F10 & I kinda liked that car, except for the 5 spd shifter, that linkage really sucked if I remember right. Wish I still had a picture of that car.

well thanks for the Wombat education, I'd heard of them but dont think I'd ever seen one. Kinda cute unless its trying to kill you! I assumed I was going to be educated about some Datsun model not a marsupial but thanks anyways it was interesting.

I guess if I ever make it to AU I'll be ever cautious for Wombats

So the fugly silver thing is an E10 Cherry?
