sr20det is pretty much impossible in most states, there are a couple floating around but built a long time ago.
Im supprised the utes cant get them passed as a comercial vehicle and not a passenger car.
put up some pics and update your location.
2 trades- thats a heap of apprentice time- good luck.

hey there im currently building a datsun 1200 ute, which after helping with two resto's on other people utes i finally have my own. My plans are to paint it bright green with fluro green engine bay. As for drive live im thinking of running a standard ca18det, with upgraded brakes suspension diff and wheels. Im a car painter by trade and currently about to finish my mechanical trade also. My ute came with 4 wheel drums, stock wheels and a completely wrong massive carbie bolted on to the standard motor. So far i have put new bonnet guards on the ute, with plans of cutting out the floor. Installing a bigger trans tunnel, replacing the rear 1/4's and as many reproduction body parts as possible. Just wondering though is it illegal is qld to run an sr20 det or is the ca18det the safer option with engineers
