Ive done this for my engine.
Since I want to stuff a intercooler and radiator in the front, removing the water pump and fan gives me heaps of extra room.
You will still need to run thermo fans though, but some slim line ones will be perfect. I have two from an alfa sudz that I am using.

I took my water pump gasket to a laser cutter and they scanned in the gasket and cut me some from aliminimum.

Yes, sure. I don't know if anyone has done this, but it's what they do on a some racing engines.

if i run an electric water pump and thermo fans can i then remove water pump and stock fan and just put a plate over the hole to seal it up and just run a smaller belt on alternator and crank pulleys?
