My 1972 Datsun 1200 exhaust manifold studs are M8 x 1.5 which some Pulsars seemed to use also. It seems M8 x 1.25 has replaced the now orphaned 1.5 pitch M8 "Coarse" thread.

Luckily I kept all the studs and nuts, which are still usable, since the orphaned ones seem impossible to locate.

The next choice might be drill and heli-coil to accept the new M8 x 1.25 "coarse" hardware.

Use High-Temperature gasket goo. It's a special kind.

I always had the impression gasket goo was just for sealing with a paper gasket and ensuring a tight seal!

no worries! I'll do that then! time to remove the stud from the exhaust gasket.. go get some copper based gasket goo and put these two together! :)

yeah use a tube of gasket goo, the copper stuff is the best, 15 bux for a tube, clean off all old gasket and dont put a new gasket in there.

may need washers to stop the nuts bottoming out on the studs, but i doubt that

My 200B SSS has it on the same place, looks to be very many years old and no leaks or anything.

Paper gaskets would burn up and be useless anyway
