There are Lec type flatties for sale from an Adelaide Mob
as Ive been told by someone working in a bike wreckers but
his boss was everdropping and couldnt tell me where.
Anyone know the brand or type? supposedly cheaper than Lecs.

There is lots of motorcycle tuning info on the net...

The typical MC carb has three tuning bands
Pilot (low speed) Jet = Low RPM
Jet needle = Midrange RPM
Main (High speed) Jet = High RPM

The RPM ranges overlap so that the low RPM settings taper off as the midrange RPM settings are coming on. And the midrange RPM tapers off as the High RPM settings start coming on.

The Pilot and Main Jets are numbered and are replaced to affect changes. The needle has clip slots that allow adjustments.

Very basic info here... Your specific carb may be different.

daves right, if slide carbs, round or flat figure out & note what the needle position clip is in & play with it from there. When tuning my Mikuni's on the old H1 repositioning the needle clip - ie, the needle position in the jet - makes dramatic differences in how the bike performs all across rpm/speed range. I'm not sure what your running but usually the idle circuit is completely separate from the primary fuel circuit in the carb although the needle position plays an important part in how it idles too.

I was wrong the Magazine is Classic Ford November 2010 issue page 45. I am sure this is available worldwide, hope the article helps you it was quite informative.

My dad has a magazine article on this very subject i will post the article and magazine details maybe you can order an issue. I believe it was a pommy magazine Performance Fords.

This is fairly common with motorcycle carburetors -- they are jetted very differently from automobile carburetors.

The accelerator circuit is different, maybe something to do with accelerating a 500 lb bike versus a 1600 lb car. So guys richen up the main jetting to compensate. But it's the wrong way to fix the problem.

Take your too-rich jets and note the numbers. If they are 150, try 140 instead. Test it not by flooring it, but by slowly rolling on the throttle.

To tune it for large throttle openings, work on the accelerator circuit. If it is a slide carb this means changing needles or moving the needle up.

yeah i already contacted the manufacturer because hte stuff on their site wasnt very helpfull, i was just wondering if anyone here had any similar issues.
if i drive normally, lets say im driving and let off the gas to stop at a stop light, etc. the rpm's will start dropping and it will die, but not all the time.
