Here you go... a 500Kv spark. One meter is nothing :)

i have known a coil rated at 50kV. but still don't dare to use it as it might fry the dizzy.

You can have too much spark. The points and condenser can't cope with the back emf (electro magnetic force) and burn out prematurely. A points system can only cope with approx 30,000 volts, at idle and at cruise loads while hei copes with approx 40,000 volts helping you achieve a leaner burn.

I've seen my Autronic cdi pull a 1 metre long spark from the cable to the engine using Bosch hei coils. Spark only needs to ignite the mixture.
In a wasted spark system you use a cycle to ignite whatever didn't burn during the exhaust stroke.
So that on every second TDC a spark iis used.

Once the timing is set, ignition lights it...

As dd says, spark at the wrong time will cause you piston problems. If there it too much advance or pre-ignition from deposits getting red hot and igniting the fuel then you will have piston problems in time. That and an overly lean mixture. This is the most likely piston destroyer you can get.

You can never have too much spark. Only spark at the wrong timing.
