Now do a skid!

Seems like I just did this on my A14, but it was nearly 2 years ago. Now it is my A12's turn.

For the last two days I've had to top up my radiator. Looked a little closer and see this:



The genuine Atsugi lasted for decades. But now it's time for replacement.

Had this GMB that someone gave me. Looks used but nearly new.





The cast impeller is a better design. At about 7,500 RPM they say the pressed steel type of the new one can cavitate. No worries, I'm not revving it that high.

Prep the gasket face
* Scrape it clean
* Brush the threads, apply never-seize
* Don't forget the two locating dowls (missing in the photo, they were stuck in the old pump)


do likewise for the pump sealing face

Best: use a paper gasket
Acceptable: Use a think layer of RTV silicone sealer. Paper thin, just like the gasket. Wipe away excess while it's still soft



bolt it on -- not too tight


RTV gasket should have very little squeeze out. You don't want that stuff inside the engine, but only on the sealing surfaces.

Bolt the fan on, then replace the radiator.
Fill with coolant. All Done!
