Hello There! Just want to ask you guys regarding my electric fuel pump. when driving in highways with normal speeds the pump is working normal but when and everytime I'm in traffic or just idle for a while the pump makes this very loud noise and the engine almost always dies and i can see that the fuel filter has no fuel in it even if i have lots of fuel. i have already clean the fuel tank and fuel lines. what would the cause of this.

your inputs would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for all the input, I followed members advice and checked if there was fuel in the line and there was not. Gunk in bottom of tank was the cause of the problem, should have known it wouldn't have been a Datsun fuel pump those things go forever. I poked a stick up into the blockage and ended up covered in petrol, I now have a big soft patch in the asphalt but the car is going again.

Thanks Greg for the offer of free fuel pump, its much appreciated, when I really do need one I know who to call.

check the filter first... and then check the fuel line. perhaps the filter or the line is clogged.

Have you narrowed it down to it been fuel pump only? Is there fuel in the line before it gets to the pump?
