This type of setup [Quad(4) throttle body] would be ideal for naturally aspirated, hi power setups. Quite cheap too (I say this in comparison to the cost of the off the shelf items, I'm not sure what your budget is) if you do it like lagwagon did:

To make it expensive you can do it like this setup and purchase the throttle bodies and manifold from different places ($$$$$$$$$):

This setup [Single Throttle body + Plenum] would be ideal for a daily, smooth running, stock cammed engine. Remember, the factory EFI A14 & A15 were the most powerful of the factory A-series engines (excluding the race stuff like the AY).

I think this would also be great for a low boost daily driver, with the promise of being a reliable and powerful powerplant.

I think carbies look great and with a decent set of trumpets they look very tough.

Your question is quite broad and would require you to decide on what it is (exactly) that you want. If you haven't even tried an upgrade to the stock carburetor to a DGAV or DCD Weber then I reckon you're in for an absolute shocker if you went chasing up the build of a quad throttle body setup.

There is one for sale at the moment from Dion120y but in all seriousness, unless you have the money to pay someone to do it (or someone knowledgeable by your side) you may want to stick to something relatively simple- seeing as you're not really sure on what it is exactly that you want.

As ddgonzal said; if you require more torque then pursue more cc's. But I think it is a very smart and worthwhile thing to learn as you go and do your upgrades in increments and steps - teach yourself and learn as you go.

The Megasquirt comps are great as you learn ALOT as you go along and it can be very, very useful down the track.

engine that goes well with good torque.
Am i asking too much or whatt?

You can get this with a stock A12 carbureted system. If you want even more torque, fit a stock A14. You don't need EFI to have a good engine that goes well with good torque.

Thats a pretty hard question to ask.
As for the carbs. If you "WILL" go to twins in the near future, then save the time and effort and go to twins to start with
By the time you buy the manifold and needs setup bits, then tune for a single, you may as well just go to twins to start with.
If you can't repair and tune carbs yourself, the tuning costs can bring it inline with EFI pretty quick.

As for EFI, unless you have the nouse to DIY, its an expensive option to buy off the shelf stuff.

Personally, I love the sounds that you get from webers, but Im also doing an EFI project.

To be honest im not really sure, im more so looking for anyone that has any idea on which way to go about it...
i believe there was a 1.3l fuel injected thing simila to the 1.6 fuel injected hyundai excel.

Is it worth maybe just starting on a single sidedraft weber to which i move forward from there to possibly twins and then fuel injection?
Or should i start from twins?

$2500 USD for quad throttle EFI plus a lot of installation costs -- sounds like twin webers. Read about it in our tech article EFI.

Webers and quad throttle bodies would make the same noise.

What sort of EFI are you talking about?

Hi guys, have just recently got my 1200 ute on the road after 2 years restoration.
My old man had a mid mount twin weber 1200 coupe when he was younger and ive always wanted to build a worked a14 with twin webers.
Ive spoken to a few people and ive heard a few more good things about EFI than webers.
Obviously webers sound sick as however once EFI is setup and going, its a goer first time everytime, no tuning and fiddling with jets etc...
Thats about the extent of my knowledge, im keen to learn more and would love to build a really nice, neat engine that goes well with good torque.
Am i asking too much or whatt?
Cheers
Ed
