Hahaha #OOPS# knew that someone would say that haha i've already got 3mm lower king spings but i think ill have to cut them. You should always cut coils from the top or bottom? Im sure its the top just wan to make sure ;) cheers

Lowering springs or cut the coils off yours

That's one reason went coil overs

I got two washers on the lathe machined them down a bit so the pillow bearing had enough movement put them it as it has solved the problem but now my cars looks like a 4x4 haha well compared to what it was with the stock tops. Is it just because its bolted further down in the towers? i know the shock comes up a lot more with the stock tops but id there any ways to get around this and make it lower?
Thanks heaps guys. Nick

well heres the step in strut i was talking about

heres what you need

get the right pitch and tread size and cheaper than getting the standard coil over top nuts to fit.
Toyota celica ones i think they were. $10 a set of 4 from supercheap.

as for the conical spacer washer???? i used some from some subaru struts i had lying around that fit. before that i used high tensile washers of vaious sizes stacked to get the right spacing to let the bearing move.
dodgey buy effective. i greased them slightly too to allow movement so the wheel nuts didnt loosen up if they spun.

the washer sits on that top step below the thread(in my picture the washer was too big and was forced down shock tube shaft (similar to how your struts came through bearing).
the spring top hat sits below that washer. if you had long shanked nuts, you could even possibly install thriust bearing and place washers on top to sit under the pillow ball but then there would be bugger all thread holding shock strut to the wheel nut.... easy to work out once its all apart.

The same thing as my shank nuts do, they fit perfectly in the bearing. The step is on the shock strut top and the spherical washer sits on that Holding top hat under it, will dig up some pics in an hour when on computer

The Shocks dont have much of a step in it. What's the inside diameter of pillow ball bearing? The shock needs to fit snugly into the pillow ball bearing. My strut tops needed some sleeves machined up to make the shock fit nicely in the bearing.
