Hi, I got a gx head, has been chemically cleaned, pressure tested, has been lighlty skimmed, the valve area has been slightly open for a14 valves, the head has 3 angle valve seat grind for a14 valves! Comes with double valve springs, a12gx valves,a14 valves, needs new valve oil seals, further on everything is inclueded ! Except rocker arms, rocker shaft and tappet cover! Make me a offer I'm from sa, pref sa buyers, if other country buyer must be willing to pay for shipping cost! The head was not used since I got it back from engineers! Contact me on aiden.dom@gmail.com and ill forward all pics

'usually' the unmodified head would be the more 'desirable' for an all out race effort. IF and only IF, whoever is about to do the head porting is literally one of the best out there.

So certainly if you know/do business with a gun head porter, a stock gx head would be the go over one that 'might' have been modified by a muppet and done poorly, to the point that it would be difficult to get it back up to the 'all out' spec you want it to be.

But I think it's a fair call to say that in this case, bige has runs on the board (there's a couple of other names I could think of off the top of my head, some would be known to members here, one or two might not) who are in a similar boat - in other words you'd be hard pressed to find a percent or two of different (tops) between a head done by any of those particular people.

So if the work is done by someone who has got the goods, then it's reasonable enough to price it accordingly - including the cost of the gx head 'starting point' and then the various work/parts they put into it.

If you look at the work Bige has listed for his head, it's actually pretty darn cheap.

Upload some pictures and give some details and we won't have to be stabbing in the dark with our price suggestions.

If that's not possible then $50 - 1500.

If it's stock and in great condition, I'd say lemonheads' suggestion is about right.

My thoughts...

I think $1200 is a fair and reasonable price for a head that has had a lot of work done to it, that's about what I have paid in the past a couple of times.

I think a GX head that is in reasonable standard form that may need a bit of a freshen up is worth about $400 to $450.

Maybe it is just me, but I would think a stock standard none modified GX head will be worth more than a modified one. Reason being it is stock standard and now you can either keep it that way or modify it the way YOU want it not wondering if the port job was hopefully done right, etc.

I have a totally stock one not even skimmed in it's life in my garage cabinet. Will need new valves and springs but everything else is 100%. not even helicoiled on the threads and the threads are still fine not needing it. This I clasify as a valuable GX
head.

Would $500 be a acceptable valued price for this kind of head that needs a recondition on valves, guides, seals, springs, etc?
