Maybe, was that a factory stock A-series engine?

The GX head does have slightly bigger ports, something like 2 mm higher and 1 mm wider.............now of course this assumes said GX head had the A14 size valves. Also GX spec motor the compression ratio is higher as well.

I've long been wondering about that. Would the A14 block actually grab more peak horsepower out of any particular cylinder head? I thought the head was the limiting factor of the A-series power potential. In other words, the A12 head wouldn't flow any more air when put on an A14 would it?

I did say "in theory".........the difference between the round and oval ports on the A12 is huge but not so for A14 head and GX head. I would still expect at least 85 to 88 range...............the only way to know for sure is to bolt a stock GX set-up and add GX spec cam.

Except that there was no A14GX engine. Nissan Competition sold a big-port head suitable for A14, and called it the "GX Cylinder Head For A-series engine built from 7/73". But it was simply the factory stock A12T head with the factory B210 part number.

This stock head won't deliver 95HP, you have to modify it. Nissan Competition sold one already done which they called the "Competition Head".

Well if we oversimplify this and add the 15HP difference between the A12 and A12GX that would in theory bring an A14GX engine to 95HP.

That is the L14 GX with twin carbs. A14 "GX" (B210 A14T) is just a standard A14 with twin Hitachi sidies and a better cam. Same head as standard A14.

I like how the standard A14 makes more horsepower @ 3600 rpm than the A10 makes at peak 6000 rpm.
