A12 GX - early block with distributor up front, and has provision in the lower water inlet for the plumbing for the water outlet from the inlet manifold. Round dome top hitachis (SU's). twin outlet cast iron hearders to twin pipe engine pipe.

A12T - late block with dizzy in the middle and square top hitachis. + the water plumbing as mentioned above.

These features are what I look for when looking at these type of engine designation.

How do you Identify that is an actual gx engine? Anybody can put a gx head onto a block with those carbys and air cleaner box.. That's not pointed at the seller im just saying in general!!

Can you go by the engine number or is the block a little different compared to a normal a series block..

It's a 56A 5 speed. Great behind an A12, put it behind a bigger block and you might find yourself with less than 5 available gears.

Small gold mine? Not really. Once you count in shipping costs you will lose most of your potential buyers, and the only way to offset that is to drop the price much lower than what you would see it sell for here in Aus. Sell the whole engine, don't split it up. There are very very few complete GX engines around the place.
