How about the 1500.00 for shipment?
I been seen that engine for about 5 years now.
Are people really think that some of these cars parts are worth that much?

Yes, if I was selling it, I'd do a compression test and include that in the advertisement. And put it on bid, so I get the highest price someone is willing to pay.

The motor has been sitting for years now so what shape are the seals in, rings stuck to bore and all the other things that happen to motors that sit. The carbs and manifolds were where all the value was.
It could be an A12A being a later motor in the U.S.A. but its value isn't great. They have had the motor up for sale on and off three years with no takers. Even at $400 I think one would be hard pressed to get any takers, A12s are rather unloved and usually anyone who needs a motor goes bigger.
I think it is like my 80s motorcycle brochures, cool to but not worth much.

Tom

$1200 is the full retail price of a rebuild at a local mechanic's shop. Installation is extra.

Wow, up to $1200 in the US?

Shipping from Australia might be an option for that money considering the current weak Aussie dollar.

There are 1 or 2 rebuilt a12s on eBay right now for around $500AUD which don't seem to be moving.

Doh! missed that. Rebuilt A12s have been going for $400-$1200.

And this one won't fit a B110 as it is a newer style A12. It will fit a 1979-1982 Datsun B310, or can be swapped into a B110 1200 with fabricated motor mounts.

" THE INTAKE, HEADER & CARBURETORS HAVE BEEN SOLD. NO CARBS, HEADER OR INTAKE WITH THIS AUCTION. "

Seems it's now just a plain stock a12 for $2000... Pretty expensive crate if you ask me!

Now reduced to $2000.

It appears to have the Excel "Sunny Power Kit" installed.

The new price seems reasonable, the problem is the shipping cost.

Quote:
DATSUN B110 A12 1200CC ENGINE IN CRATE W/ SUNNY MIKUNI DUAL CARBURETORS & HEADER
You are bidding on a Datsun 1200 or A12 engine new in the crate labeled from Japan to San Franciso. Crate is also labeled RBE-A12. I assume RBE stands for rebuilt engine. Engine is new remanufactured in Japan & never installed. Judging from the age of crate I would assume it was remanufactured in the 1970s. The engine is stamped A12 with vin # 049318. Exhaust header included. Engine turns by hand. This engine will fit 71-73 Datsun Sunny B110 & B120 Sunny Truck, 1971-1973 Cherry EID (Datsun 120A & Datsun 270X Concept. Super rare find. I would prefer not to ship. I can deleiver to Carlisle, Charlotte, Englishtown or Hershey shows or can be picked up my East Earl, Pa 17519 address. If you have any questions please call Kurt ... THE INTAKE, HEADER & CARBURETORS HAVE BEEN SOLD. NO CARBS, HEADER OR INTAKE WITH THIS AUCTION.[/url]
