Many things can cause this type of problem.

If it has a idle dashpot I would check that first. It might be loose or sticky.

The accelerator pump small fuel leak doesn't cause this problem, i would think not.

Not uncommon for the cast steel base of the carb to come loose from the main aluminium body. Its held together by 3? bolts. One is underneath and needs the carb off to check. Try the outside 2 first

Hey all,
Picked up another b110 coupe (A12 auto 71), hasnt been driven in about 5 years and is stock.
Basically the problem is that it will idle fine rarely and then randomly it wont, the motor usually revs up fine on starting (sometimes with throttle down it seems to choke the engine?? other times it revs up great) but when releasing the accellerator peddle completely it idles momentarily and then the revs drop until it turns off. I have replaced the distributor cap and rotor, leads and plugs, and fuel filter. I've checked that the vacuum hoses are all connected correctly and functioning, as well as the fuel supply from tank-pump-carby. the carby float level is ok....i noticed that it has a later model carby which has anti-dieseling solenoid but this has been deactivated (pin removed). There does seem to be a small amount of fuel coming from the rubber seal on the pump lever??? I have a couple of old stock 1200 carbs i could switch over with, and a weber 32/26.....which i should prob just use anyway...BUT, i'm hoping one of you datto guru's has some other possibilities i could check before i do this as this my second coupe and i'd rather not do it if its uneccesary.
THanks for reading this......keen to get this straight one owner stocker going :):)

just to add, i also replaced the ignition coil
