Ok after all the chopping and changing I have finally committed to a colour. I'm going to keep it white as I have been inspired by this:

Datsun Color #931 is called different things by different marketing departments.

Nissan Motor Co (Australia) PTY apparently called it "Mustard"

Nissan Japan called it "Sunflower Gold"

Nissan Motor Co in U.S.A. called it "Gold"

It is in the brochures shown in the Colors article. It is halfway between a regular gold and a regular mustard yellow.

I went to the auto paint shop and spent a lot of time flicking through paint catalogues. They list under manufacturer names, codes with a small colour sample. I went through heaps of pages under datsun and couldnt find anything that looked like that mustard. Thats why I'm now unsure if its a original Datsun colour.

If its not I just need a year and manufactures name and I can hunt the rest...

On the receipt and paperwork of my coupe when it was first sold in australia by nissan dealer, its colour 931 is refered to as "mustard" NOT "gold".
But the coupes' mustard colour does looks darker or more "gold" than the picture of jdm ute posted by greendog hence maybe why dd is refering to it as gold.

So not sure if utes had different colour codes but i could email pics of my coupe to your email address to help you make a better informed decision mate.or maybe i could get the petrol cap colour matched and see what colour code they give me.

as earlier mentioned, maybe there are different types of shades depending on lighting and condition of car.
