LS1 coils aren't upgrades, won't make any more HP but might last longer if mounted away from the heat.

Here is a write up about installing Bosch coils on a CA. I have also read about using coil from LS power trucks/utes, some have heat sinks and put out some impressive spark energy. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/in ... 870479&st=0&#entry5870479

There are a few ways to do it, spitfire coils are an upgrade from stock and cost a few $$ but are fitted the same way as stock ones, as has been stated they do heat up and this can cause problems, or you can go for remote coils which are around the same cost but you will need to mod leads to suit your placement, or have some made, and normal bosh units are good or even ls1 ones, the coils are similar to rb so you could look on Sau for more ideas

Yeh, remote mounting the coils gets them out of the heat, I've heard of people even mounting the coils inside the vehicle cabin. I am thinking of putting mine on the firewall or even inside if I can find a nice spot for them. I am unsure at the moment as I got plenty of other things to sort out before I think about that.

The lads tuning my setup said that they have had good results from using coils from the LS1 V8 engine in the commondoor and said I should run them on my donk. They have also used them on various RB engines with good results too. They are a good cost effective upgrade over the stock ones.
