You're right dd, they are British SU's. I had a bit of a play with them last night and did a dummy fit to try and visualise what goes where.

Not needed. You can run the engine for years without plumbing the vacuum advance. It will run good without it. Just plug any unused ports on the carburetor (except for the fuel bowl vents).
Referring to the photo below of the carbs from above and Bakat, going by your description, the yellow arrows point to what I presume are where the vacuum advance lines connect? They were already plugged when I got them. DD, if I decide to plumb the vacuum advance up, will I need to connect both carbs via a t-piece, or will just connecting one carb be enough?

Truly you need S.U. information. It is different from Datsun twin carb linkage.
Connecting the linkage to the cable is the least of my worries at the moment, I'm more concerned about exactly where it goes! You can see from the photo that I thought they went between the carbs at the point furthest from the manifold. My reasoning for thinking this is because the point closest to the manifold (where they originally were according to
this photo) seems to only operate the butterflies, which I thought were choke operation, whereas the point I have put the linkage seems to operate the piston. Do I have this arse-about??
The photo of the carbs from the lh side is to show the fuel lines and third photo shows the pot for the rear carb. Referring to the 3dr photo, the red-filled arrow points to the fuel pump line and the yellow-filled arrow points to the line connecting both carbs. What the hell is supposed to connect to the 3rd point, shown by the solid yellow arrow?
Finally, there doesn't seem to be anywhere on the manifold for the PCV valve, therefore nowhere to connect the PCV hose. Again, am I missing something, or do I just direct the hose downwards and forget about it?
