I do not think this guy is serious at all. A turbo in a rusted car with no suspension work, brakes etc..........hum
That car ,if ever made, will get glued to a tree or wall less than 50 meters from home, floor it,and say goobye!

What about just swapping in more gear? Like wagon differential, or a pickup truck differential? That will multiple the torque without having to make any other changes -- good for burnouts.

I forgot to mention the most simple, cheap and bang per buck modification - FANTA INJECTION. Either that or a bit of methanol :) Blow/suck thru turbo running some Fanta, what a combo! Sure to win the burnout comp.!

hey simmo, im with you and your friends. If they dont give a toss then what the hell. It is a bit of fussing about but its a TUURRRBBBOOOO! If the car looks shyte no one would expect it to have a turbo even if it does take the Golden Blow-Off Valve Award for dodgyness.

I can just see the old A12 screamin its jubblies off with a whine of the turbo. Mind you my Datto coupe with everything bog stock can do 2nd gear burnouts no dramas. Its good to let loose in the back yard where you can only hurt yourself.

Good luck to you and your mates, I am assuming this turbo setup will be hard to find and I do agree with the other guys that it would be a shame to see the turbo setup destroyed. As for the A12, what the hell were the 120Y's made for? PARTS!!
Hehehe no offence anyone just a laugh.

Simon

I agree with 2quick4u why waste money on a turbo when you could just buy a A15 and some 40 mm dellortoe sand if the motor bangsjust get another and put the dellortoes on it.
no offense or any thing

you all dont seem to understand, they couldnt give a flying f**k about dattos.
he just wants more power for burnouts, that is all. they dont care if it dies, theyll just get another cheapie a12. But i will sugget the a14 / a15 swap, as it is the simplest solution.

i agree 100%

no offence simmo

tell your friend to just dump an old a15/14 in it, probably be better than turboing an A12, more torque, better for burnouts.

Pick one up for a couple of hundred bucks....

just dont hurt it too much, make me cry

later

why bohter if your just goign to use it for a little bit and thrash it? i don't meen to be rude but it would be a awful lot of work to set it up just to beat the hell out of it and then get rid of it. not only do you have to make an exhaust maniflod but you'll have to run oil lines as well as make sure the turbo is hihg enough for gravity to drainit properly. as well as coolant lines f it has a coolant equipped center housing. then you have to make a carb bonnet for your carb as well as possibly rebuild the carb to handle the extra pressure (nitrofil floats) ohterwise your floats can crush. then tune it properly if oyu want it to run moe than 20 minutes without putting a hole in one of the pistons or cracking them. then you need to find a way to regulate the amount of boost made since they are usaually equipped on cars that are built for them so they are going to be pushing more boost than what a a12 or a14 can handle safely. not to mention since you have a 9to1 compression ration you will be handicapped on the amount of boost you can run even if your using premium gas. you'll basically have to use race gas to keep it from detonating and anything hihger than 7PSI. i'm nt positive but thats what i would guess.

i'm sure you could easily get this setup for way less than a $1000 if you do most of the work yourself and can score a good turbo from a yard for cheap. but you do realize that if you beat the hell out of the turbo it can easily take the motor with it on its way out.

i fthe motor is about to die or you plan on placing something better in its place theni sy og for it you might as well have some fun with it before itdies/gets taken out. but if you want to do it just for the kicks and giggles factor iwould have to say you mihgt want to change you plan of attack. if there is no rush just save up some cash and buy a good turbo, plan a good manfiold design as well as intake tracts for the turbo and to the carb from the turbo. then track down a set of forged pistons even if they are 9:1 ratio still at least they will be forged and give you a better cushion when tuning. also a new exhaust would be in order i wouldn't go with anything less than 2.5" to keep that turbo happy. maybe look into seeing if you can find a carb that is bult for boosted applications that you cna fit on the motor. if done right you can have a motor that gives decent power and will live a long life for very cheap, just my .02
