I think it really depends on your luck. The way the economy goes, it's like 'waves'. Much like a15 engines (to suit reco, i.e. used, not the high end builds you had for sale) - they wen't from 400-ish to about double that, then backslide a bit over the last approx 5 years.

In the last 2 years or thereabouts, I've bought a few 60 series 5 speeds (all dogleg). They were in the high $800s to mid $900s . plus freight (though that only goes for 1 of them, as I picked up the rest in person).

You win some you lose some. The most recent one, I paid a little extra (on top of the purchase and shipping price) to cover it being properly packaged. When I picked it up from the transport depot, it had a piece of cardboard 'draped' over it, the shifter barely still attached with sticky tape to the extension housing, and no clutch fork lever. I emailed the seller asking (hoping) the throwout fork lever might have been coming via australia post or something, but never got a reply. I dunno if the transport company damaged it, or it wasn't packed properly to start with, so I'm not accusing, but I didn't get a reply, so I don't know what to think.

Point being, the 'unknown condition' is the big factor here. On the plus side, I don't think there's anybody on this forum who has a better reputation (plenty of good guys here, some snakes, but you are clearly the former!) - so that should, by rights, help the price/offer a little bit.

I'll pm you in any case with an offer.

I think they are worth the same dollars. More prefer the standard-shift, but those who like doglegs really like them, so they sell too.

is there any differences between the 2 gearboxs other then shift pattern

Yes, the 60L (dogleg) is based on the 4-speed, so the gear layout, switch and fitting layout is different.

The differences are mostly minor. They are both the same length and interchangable.

I got my standard shift 60a for $700 delivered from NZ two or three years ago, and it was test driven by the seller. In the end it turned out to have issues and I had a whole bunch of work done on it. It is very nice now.

Understood, but the fact that the sale >>includes<< the tailshaft = more metal being sold and more money. If I had a nice wad of cash I'd have about 3 5 speeds by now.

Actually it uses the same tailshaft as a 4-speed.

Yes but the fact that it has a tail shaft with it would surely fetch a better price
