yep... the roads dept is the best avenue

having said that .... The guy who was registering my ute could not find the car in their records - the only thing that saved me from extra stuff was the compliance plate (and this was for a 1981 ute)

Your id plates on the car and your chassis number?
Well you need to talk to your rego people too as they may have to issue a new chassis,number after you can.proves the cards.not stolen or a repaired write off etc.

Some of the records for older cars are sketchy and when input and migrated electronically don't always,match. I went through similar with a previous car years ago.
