Raising the ports on both sides has to have some gains especially the short turn radius would definitely get more happening.

Jmac the cheap mani pic was just cause it made me laugh, it would suit a simple draw through turbo setup and could easily be ported as all the sides are welded so would have had good access if need be.

The head is in my garage in NZ waiting to be used.
Have never had it on a engine but a friend of mine who is on this forum flow benched for me with some good numbers.
It's a H89, both inlet (obviously) and exhaust ports have been raised with the inlet short turn radius increased a lot.

D - without seeing the inside of that intake manifold's box section, I'd be hesitant to go with it. It would work (opinion) pretty well, with minimal work - just decent radii at the start of each runner - if used for a straight lpg intake, where fuel dropout just isn't a factor like it is with petrol or alcohol (or any liquid fuel)

I don't have the link on my, but I have had a few pics of some ford cleveland heads that a particular porter developed for pro-stock racing way back around the early 70s *(back when smallblocks were eligible, unlike the 500ci (or 800 odd, depending on if it is nhra or ihra, or iirc 400ci for aussie pro-stock racing). But back to the clevo heads, he made his own port tongues (something that is fairly commonly available for guys running 4v heads, though of course there's plenty of aftermarket heads for them too these days) to fill in the floor of the ports (in the region where there is negligible flow, esp the closer one gets to the manifold face are) . SO it doesn't cost flow at all (in fact it will increase it, or effectively increase cylinder filling) but it ramps up port velocity and makes the flow more stable, less turbulent. All good stuff.

The question has to be, though, just how much flow increase one can get. People are able to get what, close to 200bhp for an all out speedway engine. That's fairly decent flow for a 1500cc pushrod 2valver, esp one with longish stroke vs bore size.

I certainly am not suggesting the mods won't show gains, I just wonder what the extent of the gains might be compared to a conventionally ported head.
