Yes, it will work. You will need to provide ground to the matchbox along with the red & green wires.

Early EI distributors are D4F type. The "Matchbox" type is D4K. The points versions are D410, D411 and D412 (D4n).

What is the PN stamped on the distributor body?

While test fitting dizzys I found I had a D412-80 unit with what looked like pertronix conversion but then realized it was an early EI unit. The unit has the same red green wires. I do not have the remote module but do have a few spares of the IC match box module, so the question is will the newer module work with the early EI dizzy?
