not sure what was on there before as I just bought the bottom end and have an A15 H89 head in the garage, cheers guys

H89 were also fitted to A14 from the factory. H89

What cylinder head did you have on there before?

If you previously had the H75 then yes, it will raise the CR slightly. If you had the round port thrift head no, a H89 will not change the ratio, it will remain the same.

To raise the compression ratio you can machine the head, fit flat top or domed pistons, install flat faced valves or purchase a performance head gasket which is slightly thinner than the standard.

will a H89 head off an A15 raise the compression on an A14?
