Hay dhadina, I cut 100mm of the top of my stanza struts and fitted r31 skyline inserts and re-ajusted spring plate this is for my 1200 ute 250pnd mad springs and 22 mm swaybar never looked back

Yep that's it so shock is snug fitted

ok looks like i'll be going down that road. now next q's is how much to shorten.

is it just the difference between the standard stanza insert and the 240z insert. that way it fits perfectly in the strut itself. no spacers on the bottom.

Cut and re tread is best

Me personaly,i would never cut and reweld suspension and if anything goes wrong and u happen to have an accident im pretty sure u wont get insurance.I was going to get this done but decided to go with the MADDAT suspension which is cut and rethreaded,much safer and passes engineering with flying colours.

ok my q's is where to cut the strut

either just under the original spring perch, then shorten and weld in the same place. this way the top half (the bit welded back on is long) will this effect it in anyway

or

take spring perch of and grind the weld smooth and cut higher and have a shorter top half

is either way ok? i guess it all depends on how much you are cutting off? im going the 240z insert and the usual coilover set up.
