I'm hoping several 510's from the club will be there, but we'll see.

A couple of points , Murph's car still had enough fuel in it at the end the pumps had a pick up problem...... it's not the 1st time he's had this problem either! Larry Perkins is the only man who has won Bathurst in a Holden engined car against the Chevs, though it took a custom cast block and heads which was quickly banned. I too hope the Fords take the Mountain as well. Though I would be happy to see Brock take his 10th win......with a Kiwi co driver of course!

re: re-fueling, thats racing you make a dud calculation its your fault. Just like Greg Murphy a week or two ago. He ####ed up (or more like his strategists) so he lost the race THATS RACING!!

If Holden cant build a decent 5 litre then they cant go and swivel. The mountain is a bloody tuff event and it breaks cars (Ford have had their share), if you lead for 150 laps and she blows up you dont win, the bloke who makes it first over the line after 161 is the winner.

XB/XC are very similar, but there are a lot of diferences. I currently own both models. Although they use the same floor pan and basic look (some sheet metal differences) there are little things that piss me off that wont change over! Examples are the brake light switch on the brake pedal, the indicator stalk, so many times I thought I will just swap some gear over from the XC into the XB but it ####s me to find it never is quite that easy. Thank god for Datto's!!! Parts from completely diferent models just bolt up, gotta love em.

Sorry if I got excited, I love my Fords, Holdens dont even rate with me. Im not totally one-eyed when it comes to all cars tho ( I love my Datto's and Jap imports, see-GTR Skyline). Lets just see how Bathurst pans out come October.

Cheers

Simon

Bathurst 73 - Moffat(a Canadian I think)/Geoghegan XA hartop won
Bathurst 74 - Goss/Bartlett won in another XA hardtop.
Then there was the famous Ford Dealer Team(headed by Moffat) 1-2 formation finish with the XB hardtops , but I can't remember what year that was.
.

yes but you failed to list that the torana had won the previous year.. P brocks first of 9 victories on the mountain I might add! (still the most ever) and the reason they didnt win in 73 is because they miscalculated their fueling stops and ran out just at the bottom of the hill before pit lane. the 53 yr old doug chivas had no hope of pushing the torrie up the incline himself and something due to rules the pitcrew couldnt come and give help for 5 minutes... when they got it back up and running brock was almost catching moffat but had a blowout which ended it all.

74 was a non event for torana because of the L34 engines they had developed for the new, bigger V8 SLR 5000's .. apparently their was a piston ring mis-spec in the development program.. which hadnt shown up in the touring car round sprint races. but in the long distance enduro of bathurst the toranas were dropping like flies with massive blowby.. if you watch any of the videos you can see many of them retiring spewing out black smoke..

magpies, crows same thing... I'll support my home team soon as they lose the anchor ;)

btw beyond thunderdome was mad max 3 not 2..

Tom Cruise' ex - Nicole Kidman.
Also, not actually Australian. Was born in Hawaii.

Jacko (Oi!) was in Mad Max 2 - beyond thunderdome. I think. The one with Tina Turner in it.

There are very very few "Australians" in hollywood that are australian.

Australia always adopts "Aussies" so we can feel good about ourselves.

Like Russell Crow. But he calls himself australian too. I rmemebr on an interview on TV he was saying how he got the computer guy change some of the stuff around in the backgroudn so that the Autralian flag was behind him when he was in that stupid "I am a computer" movie thing when he was a serial killer or something.

Hey Dimlight i'm looking forward to seeing those 1200's again. The show's less than a month away.

Sorry to let you down, Joey, but there probably won't be any 1200's there. I think AFRacer is shipping out before then (Andy?), and both of Tim's 1200's are currently undergoing engine swaps. I'll have my red 510 2dr there, and maybe we'll have one of Tim's cars (Gil) ready in time, but it doesn't look like it.

It was 77 and the XBs had XC front sheetmetal to update their looks.....those are the days in motorsport I relate to ,to. I have noticed that there is a trend amongst 1200 owners to also have a V8 in the stable...is that another 70's throwback??
