There's a Sunny 1200 in the Photo Gallery.

More pictures are at McLellans (See the Web Links section).

On Japanese market cars the front grille badge has an S instead of a D. The Datsun badges on the rear guards are replaced by Sunny. ones. I have a couple of Japanese sales brochures including a GX one which clearly shows them. When I get back to work next week I'll have a go at scanning them. I have tried before but it always saves the pics too large. I will have to change the default settings I guess...Oh by the way I have a set of Sunny badges from Japan, they were extremely hard to find and were bloody expensive....the ones on my GX were kept by a previous owner who has since "lost" them.

Was the 1200 ever badged as a Sunny in any market? I mean, did they actually have "Sunny" emblems on them? If so, are there any pictures I could see?

Sunny is the name of the B series vehicles in Japan: B10, B110 (1200), B210 (120Y), B310 (210) and Sentra. In Japan 1200 utes are called "Sunny trucks".

Possibly the ute is from Japan, but it's possible that they they just got the Sunny emblems and put them on.

well that is the way it is, its buggered and they want 5 thousand dollars, seems like a ripoff. Its just that they are rare, and popular.
and at that price they won't even give you a safety certificate, now that bothers me...alot of cars are getting like that.

ive noticed on sedans and coupes at least that the side skirting under the doors seems to always rust and also the back bottom corner of the front quater panels, i.e. just behind front wheels

in VIC you dont see even the older utes for less than 3.5k and at that price they arnt in good condition

General common sense and look for the rust everywhere especially under the carpet, this is usually the worst, I know mine has rust underthere and I can see the road while I am driving.....hehehe feels like flying..as for mechanical things well they can always get fixed or replaced...for me thats OK...its just the rust look everywhere....

I swear on my grave I've seen a datto 1200 ute with a sunny badge incorporated into it ? more than one.

Can anyone verify anything? Did they just go a minor name change in the late models? Its a 79' model I think. What's in these beasts? still the same as the rest? hrmmm :)

And my other question which wasnt answered, what should I look out for when buying? as in, rust where, any mechanical items in particular, etc? Or just general common sense ?

Thanks, James
